She graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba in 2010. For the first eight years of her career, she worked as a dentist in the Transcona area. In September of 2018, she came to River East Dental Centre, purchasing Dr. Nickel’s longstanding practice, and is thrilled to be working with the awesome team here. Dr. Tracy loves dentistry because it is both challenging and rewarding, and being able to help her patients smile bigger and brighter is a privilege. She strives to better herself through continuing education, and belongs to a local chapter of a Spear Study Club. Dentistry is forever changing and evolving, so Dr. Tracy knows how important it is to stay on top of all of the new developments and technologies in the field. With her husband being from El Salvador, Dr. Tracy has learned to speak Spanish. Although she is not perfectly fluent, she can speak it well enough to have a conversation, and she understands Spanish very well. Outside of work, Dr. Tracy is kept more than busy with her young family. She and her husband have three children: two boys and a little girl. In the summers, they love to spend as much time as possible at her family’s cabin on Lee River. She loves sports, volleyball and soccer were always her favourites - although now she spends less time playing and more time watching her kids as they get involved with different sports and activities! Since she was young, she has always been an avid reader, and really loves getting lost in a great book. He considers his longtime staff and patients akin to that of extended family members, which inspires his diligent efforts to provide a supportive and encouraging work environment. Dr. Marty has volunteered for a variety of Manitoba Dental Association committees throughout his career. More recently, he has been involved in a mentoring program for newly graduated dental students. He feels connecting the future of Dentistry in Manitoba with present and past, to be an integral part of maintaining and expanding the profession in the province. He remains committed to continual education, study clubs with new graduates, and always seeking avenues to explore innovative ways to practice dentistry. Outside of Dentistry, Dr. Marty has always been committed to giving back to the community as his efforts led him to be heavily involved in managing and coaching young athletes and volunteering with the Siloam Mission. This enabled him to help others maintain healthy lifestyles. Dr. Marty engages in routine exercise and sports throughout his week to try and remain healthy in order to optimize his energy while at work and for his grandchildren. This continues to be an important value in his life. Dr. Marty loves spending time with his wife, three married children and eight grandchildren. He then relocated to North Kildonan in 1988, joining Dr. Marty Greenfeld at River East Dental Centre. Dr. Nickel loves the art and science involved in the practice of dentistry. He believes that prevention is the key to best servicing his patients. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry, learning by continuing education through study clubs, lectures, and reading. Dr. Nickel, though not fully fluent in German, has served his many German speaking patients in their first language throughout the years. Outside of dentistry he has many interests including gardening, fishing, stain glass art, building furniture, travel, and singing in the church choir. Now semi-retired, he appreciates the two days per week of dentistry he practices, especially the interactions with patients, colleagues, and family. And he is enjoying the opportunity that the additional free time away from the office affords him to undertake his other interests. He feels confident that the practice he created is in the capable hands of Dr. Tracy Martinez and the staff members who have supported the practice through many years.
